When you cut the lights out think of all the things you can't see

its 3pm on wednesday afternoon, my weekend officially started 4 hours ago and its 20 degees outside. i just fell asleep for an hour in the sun, i have no pressing engagments, homeworkwise, due until next monday. its like summer back home, except without all you guys. it got me to thinking, its a good job it doesnt get this hot in scotland all the time, folks would just be drunk permanintely ! its a perfect day for cider in the sun. i took some pictures on my phone so il post them later for the skimmers.

all in all i had a very productive day, i had 2 classes and a test and then i went to the gym for an hour. i set up a meeting with someone about my visa. then i walked to the union and went to the cafe next to the market for a grilled vegetable pita and some lemonade. Then obv the snooze in the sun and now im back home listening to music i downloaded the other night.

just thought id let you know of the bliss that is my student life. but before you all rush out and deside your bored of being stuck at home and need a break... just so you know i would give it all up in a heartbeat. right now, to be back in edinburgh with the rain beating down on me as i wait for the 26 bus with a pund coin in my hand sounds like like a very distant dream. you probably do it without thinking but for me heading up town to go to the pub and see some familiar faces is what im dreaming of when im lying in the kansas sun. weird i know but that sort of normality is just what i need, as soon as i have it i know il just be dreaming of lyeing in the sun in february, the grass is always greener on the other side, right ? but i hope il appreciate it more. of course im also dreaming of the amazing summer im going to have surfing in torfino on vancouver island with debi. so im not completely mad.

im going to start writing the name on the song that i take the lyric for the title of my blogs at the bottom, just so you know :) because normally its either a song im loving or one which is really relevant to what im feeling and i want to remember that. like a music blog...or something.

DSC07482

american cadbury cream eggs are smaller than the brittish ones, how crazy. and also the text is tilted to the right. from this i conclude that americans look at things differently

woooahh oooh and my parents love me

Before I start here is a vid my dad took in Chicago from the Sears tower

and this one is from millennium park

Hey, so I kind of left you guys hanging. This is the rest of my parents trip here in photos and if I can be bothered tonnes of words !so after our eating/sightseeing/freezing fest in Chicago we got the beautiful 2 layer Amtrak train to Lawrence.
DSC07366
At first we hung out in the viewing lounge with some snacks
DSC07370
it was really good because we got to see quite a bit before it got dark and we could all sit next to each other

then at 7:30 we went to the dinner cart for some dinner. It was really good I had a nice burger and I think mum and dad had steak.
DSC07383
it was amazing that the people who worked there managed to pour drinks and all sorts whilst on a moving train. It doesn’t feel like u are so high up in the train even though we were on the top floor the whole time. And the trains are really nice and spacious tons of leg room and they organise where u sit pretty well, rather clever.

Inevitably we got really sleepy and passed out !

DSC07384

on 12:30 Monday morning we arrived in Lawrence. You could def tell it was a lot warmer that Chicago but it was still cold. We got a taxi and it dropped mum and dad off at the hotel and I went home. This is a pic of where they stayed
DSC07437

The next day mum and dad came up to meet me and the union where I bought them lunch with my magic money card. Which is my uni card and when I get a meal plan they put $250 on it. This is us outside the union tith one of the many jayhawks round town. Kind of like the cow parade in Edinburgh…except with jayhawks

I went to stay with my mum and dad at their hotel on Wednesday night, the next day we all had breakfast together, it was really good. And we got to sit at the window so we could people watch on mass street
