so i got all blog happy and wrote a couple at once and then i forgot all about you guys and didnt blog again. Unfortunately and for reasons unbeknown to me i haven't been taking any pictures this past week...so you will just have to take my word for it. Last Thursday Alice kicked the day off with our usual date, this time we went to the mall to look at puppies....and kittens...but mainly puppies. Alice got all girly and was running around buying chocolate and girly things and i chased after her with all her bags...not really but she did go pretty girly on me. According to spell check girly is not a word...who knew. I bought myself a new t-shirt from old navy, good times. Then after the mall we went to commercial drive for pizza, i didn't want to go into my work so we went into the rival one across the road which is owned by my bosses ex husband. Could probably loose my job for that sort of trechery ! The pizza was exactely the same as at my work as were a lot of things in the place...its like nuts and zoo ! After that we headed to open mic at a much better time ( last time we got there at like 5 or something and it doesnt start til 9 !) We met Dru there and her mate Guido who's party we went to on Sat. Apparently we are quick of the mark to go to house partys of people we barely know !
I worked friday and sat, sat i didnt finish til 12:30 so the time i got home it was about 1:30am and i got changed super fast and we went to the party. which we managed to find pretty easy peasy. Was a good time, Alice only beat me at table football cos it wasnt one on one and my strikers let me down !! i drunk a tun of margaritas and wasted my sunday being hungover. But i did make these http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=20157793 which have had 51 views already so maybe a sale will come soon. did sell another canvas today though. booya.
Monday i went up main street then to my work night oot. we went 5 pin bowlin, i did alright but didnt win best bowler prize, although the girl that did used to be in a bowling league and had her own shoes ! i did however win the luckiest person prize... all week everyone had been saying how Patti had spent a tun of money on a big prize and she was super excited to give it out. Now i have had guitar hero for a long long time and i love it. and when i heard rock band was coming out i thought that it was the coolest thing in the world and i wanted it sooooooooooo much. then it didnt come out for my ps2 until a couple of weeks before i left to come here. So it turns out the prize was rockband for the xbox 360. I turned to Holly and said, im gonna win this im so lucky. i just know it. and i won it !
as you may know i dont have an x box 360, thus im getting a cheque. but anyhoo, BONUS !! thats like a weeks wages ! i also got free booze and food all night and a bottle of wine :)
got work tonight so i gotta fly....
An account of my whereabouts during my travels !

we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.
i had the best nights sleep ever. i would still be sleeping now if i wasn't going to the mall with Alice to look at puppies. Ikea knows whats up when it comes to mattresses ! Also yesterday i had some pasta with pesto that i bought here, and although it wasn't as good as the pesto a home it was pretty delicious. Ans those are the two main things going on in my life right now. Catch you later x

today i went to ikea and bought myself a bed. well not quite a bed, just a mattress. it set me back $110 but i decided i spend around a third of my day in bed so thats a pretty reasonable amount to pay. i lay on it earlier and melted...in a good way.
im home alone, alice and greg are both out makin the bacon for me to live in such luxury. i cleaned the kitchen from top to bottom like a proper housewife and even swept the hall. now i dont want to eat cos cookin will mess it up. im watching lost. its been on for abut 3 hours so i figure it will end soon. its pretty good but really they should of ended in after the 3rd series and not dragged it out forever, iv kind of lost interest.
Last night i went to the cambie with greg and had a few beers. it was a good night but im gonna be sure not to drink anything that comes out the taps there again...its a lame excuse at beer.
when i was in ikea today buying my mattress...which would of been pretty funny to watch as i was testing them all out by lying on them and implementing various testing techniques im pretty sure i made up. i noticed they do a breakfast for $1 now that is the equivalent to 57p (today anyway...it was 54p yesterday the exchange rate is all change) anyhoo, thats just not possible, plus it had meat in it. what sort of meat costs less than 57p ?
So Obama is the president of America. I watched the whole inauguration (mainly on the BBc website which i thought was kind of ironic since im in Canada) it was inspiring. Plus the Civil Rights Agenda page of the whitehouse.gov website
changed at noon on inauguration day, and now includes this...
* Expand Hate Crimes Statutes: In 2004, crimes against LGBT Americans
constituted the third-highest category of hate crime reported and made up
more than 15 percent of such crimes. President Obama cosponsored legislation
that would expand federal jurisdiction to include violent hate crimes
perpetrated because of race, color, religion, national origin, sexual
orientation, gender identity, or physical disability. As a state senator,
President Obama passed tough legislation that made hate crimes and
conspiracy to commit them against the law.
* Fight Workplace Discrimination: President Obama supports the
Employment Non-Discrimination Act, and believes that our anti-discrimination
employment laws should be expanded to include sexual orientation and gender
identity. While an increasing number of employers have extended benefits to
their employees' domestic partners, discrimination based on sexual
orientation in the workplace occurs with no federal legal remedy. The
President also sponsored legislation in the Illinois State Senate that would
ban employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
* Support Full Civil Unions and Federal Rights for LGBT Couples:
President Obama supports full civil unions that give same-sex couples legal
rights and privileges equal to those of married couples. Obama also believes
we need to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and enact legislation that
would ensure that the 1,100+ federal legal rights and benefits currently
provided on the basis of marital status are extended to same-sex couples in
civil unions and other legally-recognized unions. These rights and benefits
include the right to assist a loved one in times of emergency, the right to
equal health insurance and other employment benefits, and property rights.
* Oppose a Constitutional Ban on Same-Sex Marriage: President Obama
voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment in 2006 which would have
defined marriage as between a man and a woman and prevented judicial
extension of marriage-like rights to same-sex or other unmarried couples.
* Repeal Don't Ask-Don't Tell: President Obama agrees with former
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff John Shalikashvili and other military
experts that we need to repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. The key
test for military service should be patriotism, a sense of duty, and a
willingness to serve. Discrimination should be prohibited. The U.S.
government has spent millions of dollars replacing troops kicked out of the
military because of their sexual orientation. Additionally, more than 300
language experts have been fired under this policy, including more than 50
who are fluent in Arabic. The President will work with military leaders to
repeal the current policy and ensure it helps accomplish our national
defense goals.
* Expand Adoption Rights: President Obama believes that we must ensure
adoption rights for all couples and individuals, regardless of their sexual
orientation. He thinks that a child will benefit from a healthy and loving
home, whether the parents are gay or not.
which is obviously a massive plus. Just thought you should know, getting there. Plus this video is amazing
im going to go read a new book i got from the library, catch you later x

So I thought I’d let you know it was beautiful slow dancing to tunes of Billie Holiday.
well well well here it is the big picture post, im finally feeling like i have some time to get this one done once and for all ! it has indeed been a while...once upon a time a long long time ago debi and i went to a party with alice and a guy at her work called jeff. it was a whole lot of fun. dancing in the living room and drinkin in the kitchen...cool people....summer theme, i throughly enjoyed it :)
jeff embracing summer
alice embracing summer to a lesser extent
alice a pine apple and in the background debis dread mentor
me looking attractive with a giant accordion !
pics from the night of fire and giant beer
Debi and i just hadn't had enough snowboarding so we headed up grouse mountain for some more. the board i rented there was pretty rubbish but it was decent enough and the snow was better than i was expecting so it was a really good day. we got some really good runs in. we had been up there in the summer of 07 so it was pretty crazy to see it all covered in snow and board down the bits we had walked up !
sleigh ride
debi and her sexy board
fire and santas worshop
me boarding
this is what it looks like when me and alice sit at the bus stop...she looks suspicious as usual
internet by the fire :)
we got a tonne of pictures taken in the old photo booth in vincent park. they were only $2 a strip and no digital pixels involved, i think they came out pretty well :)
i have no pictures to document it but Debi went home. which was obviously extremely sad, she had an amazing flight though and got home nice and safe.
i worked quite a bit and im getting on pretty well with the folk i work with which is always a bonus. and the work night out is coming up a week on monday so that should be fun
me and greg called carly and steph which was pretty neato
good to have a chat and a catch up before steph headed back to oz
last thursday alice and i went to queen elizabeth park next to our house. its still all snowy there but it was nice lookin and would probably be cool to hang out in in the spring or summer. we took a lot of geeky pictures of us on the bridge and then went into an actual rainforest... not really but there were parrots and flowers and other birds. it was pretty nice.
alice on the bridge

a video of the talkin parrot
my favorite
alice bought this crow
then we zipped over to granville island and did the brewery tour and then went to an open mic night and had some food then watch all the wonderful music ! it was a good day. the open mic night was really good and there were so many acts they had to pic some out of a jar...not like normal when its the same guy that goes up every week and then noone else gets up so he just plays a full set.
today i paid my wages into the bank (i get paid by cheque here...its like the 90s or something !) and bought some nice food in for dinners and ran a few other errands. tomorrow i think im going to have to go and get a new mattress...ikea has a foam one for $50. this one def has a hole and i cant stand it any more !!!!!

I've got my life of complication here to sort out, I'll take myself to an east coast city and walk about
interlude:
sometimes i get so blogged down (get it) in keeping up to date with pictures and facts documenting what iv been up that i forget to write anything of much substance at all. I just got in from work and im pretty sleepy but im drinking some almond joy and listening to all the songs that make me feel like writing a thousand words just to describe the way the lyrics curl around my thoughts and seep into my subconscious making me feel whatever emotion they are tugging on.
Iv worked myself into a bit of a routine of recent which always seems to improve my mood and make me feel productive. Plus iv been eating oatmeal for breakfast which is always a plus.
work has been going well, i like the people i work with and i am mostly in on fri, sat and sun as well as one week day so it gets pretty busy and time tends to go faster. plus theres a work night out coming up, think its on the 21st. everyone at work will see me out of my work clothes...they will probably frown upon me for being a scruff. unfortunately though some joker decided we are going bowling. why do people always suggest that for group gatherings of people who probably wouldn't normally socialize together if they weren't thrown into the particular social situation where they met. They may as well get you to line up say, hey check me out...im gonna hurtle this thing along the floor while you all watch me fail at it then smile and put your hands up and say 'aw what am i like'. and then if by some freak accident i get a strike i'll have to shrug it off like its not the MASSIVE deal that it is. fun times ahead. will be good to see folk out of work though...iv heard thats the next step to friendship....
il update tomorrow or the next days with some proper news of what iv been up to, with pictures and all sorts. but for now im too sleepy. got paid today though :) score.
and the juice we just bought tastes just like summer fruits diluting juice. bonus

whats that comin over the hill, is it a monster !?
On Monday Debi and i got the Greyhound bus up to Whistler, it cost $30 and takes about 2 and a half hours. The view out the window is pretty nice with loads of trees and snow and mountains...all you need in a view really. As usual Debi organized the trip so our hotel was wonderful and we got a really good deal which included our lift passes and my board rental. I was able to rent a high performance Salomon board which i think made a difference to my riding. I definitely had a lot of fun. The pics are in a bit of a strange order so use your imagination !
