hey everyone, debi here. debbie is currently at work so i thought i would help her out by helping deal with the blog so that all the fans dont suffer because of debbies heavy work schedule (yesterday she did 25mins of work before geting sent home as they were not busy) plus i have no blog of my own so i thought i would share. so i finally arrived after 26hrs of traveling! got delayed in seattle for a few hours but nothing major, man was i soooo pleased to finally get here, get tons of hugs from debbie and crack open a nice chilled kokanee :) xmas day was great, ate and drank loads (pics to follow im sure) yesterday i only ventured far enought to walk debbie to the bus stop, glad i did as it snowed heavy all day and gave me a chance to go out and frollic amongst it! today i made it pretty far out of the house (thankfuly as cabin fever was starting to set in), headed out on the bus to go check out some shops and go out for lunch, then headed towards debbies work and stopped of fo a hot drink, then walked debbie to her work, a strange little place in a mall. here are a couple pics from yesterday and today

Hey just a quick blog to say MERRY CHRISTMAS !! Its snowing so much outside right now ! we had around 30cm at the weekend and today we are expected to get another 15cm !! thats a lot of snow. And apparently it never snows here so we are pretty lucky. However, Debi is currently on a plane from Amsterdam to Seattle and then she needs to get a plane from Seattle to Vancouver so she can be here in time for Christmas. I really hope she makes it !! im so excited to see her :) It is possible to get a bus from Seattle to Van which takes just under 4 hours...so if the flight is canceled there is a chance of that. Anyway, fingers crossed its all on schedule.

Today we are heading to Safeway to get our chicken and a few last minute things for our amazing meal. I am going to make us all french toast for breakfast and then im making some soup and debi is making scones. Then we will have a mains (usual christmas feast) and Greg is making an apple pie, yuuuuuuuuuum. So basically we are just going to eat all day, good times. I'll be sure to take loads of pictures :)

In other news i have now worked for 3 whole days ! those of you who know me well will know this has brought me out in a cold sweat ;) I'm enjoying work and starting to get into the swing of things. I seem to be on the evening shift all the time so that means i get the day to play. The pay is rubbish for right now but as of friday il of been working there for a week so i get tips, good times and then after a month i get an extra $2 and hour, even better !! They gave me a christmas present which i thought was pretty lovely of them since iv only worked there about 5 seconds, it is a little bag full of nice chocolates, and one of the girls was telling me the christmas do is coming up and we are getting a lodge on grosse mountain and going ice skating and sledging and stuff. well good. All of the people who work there seem really nice, it was pretty quiet for the first time last night so i got a chance to chat to them, im still being the shy new girl but im sure friendships will be made in time...

Need to get wrapped up and ready for getting out into the snow, its so hard to walk in as its sooooo deep ! need to jump everywhere. my hiking boots are probably the best thing i could of brought, and to think stephen almost managed to steal them !! I called stephen and wendy when debi was there last night (was that last night ? my tme difference head has got all confused...perhaps the night before...monday night) ao was good to speak to them and 'visit' a different house....that makes it sound like im dead....i mean see another house !! and i got a peak at my present. Debi is bringing ALLLLL the presents, im very excited, shes like santa ! i hope she comes wearing a beard !

Its Gregs birthday tomorrow too (as well as Jesus and Santa) so i suppose he should get some special attention...we'll see !

ok im off to brew some tea...what am i like. Have a good christmas and il prob try and call home either tonight (if im up late enough) or tomorrow at some point in between all the cooking. Need to hear all about your holiday !

Pictures speak louder than words right...

So yesterday i had a wonderful day. the sort of day that is wonderful because you don't expect it. I got all inspired and writing about it now is making me feel all creative again so i might have to go and draw things/ write pretty words down. Can't get anything done round here for the need to document it ! making tator tots right now. oo yeh. So i went here yesterday http://www.assemblyoftext.com/ the shop not the website...if i just went to the website that wouldn't be much of an achievement, well not one worth documenting anyway. But anyhoo it was amazing. i want to work in/embrace/own/touch/read/smell/live a place like that ! Wonderful place. Its on main street, that whole street it beautiful. i love east van...good times.

I got a free bus transfer too...aint that something. fuuuuuuuun. Came home and mulled some wine...to begin with it was very intoxicating...but i think we got drunk of the fumes and then drinking the actual wine sobered us up...odd. good times though. very christmassy, mull mull mull. was just me and alice as greg didnt get up until 6pm...loser. ahahaha. will probably have some more on christmas/christmas eve. gotta go check on my tots....

done and done. Im going to go and draw some things, i got that canvas so will be exhibiting my wonderful artwork in Vancouver on 4th ave on the 30th of December. Im famous ;)

im in a strange mood so bear with me....if this is slightly fragmented and spontaneous just embrace it. its -11 outside right now and snow is forecast again for tomorrow and the next day, i really love the snow....but i might have to get my thermals out pretty soon ! As you may have seen from Alice's blog we got our festive cheer in the form of a christmas tree. she always pips me to the post with her reporting, if we worked for rival newspapers id be getting the sack. Talking of which, i now have a job...a real job thats decent. I work in lombardos (http://www.lombardos.ca/) on commercial drive. started today and the people seem pretty cool. working again on monday and tues and fri, will be working the evening shift which is 5-11 and im signed up for at least 3 shifts a week. i had the interview on thurs, went pretty well. i had arrived there early so i went to the booze shop and treated myself to a bottle of sailor jerry rum (as you do at 10am..right?) to pass the time and make me smile. so anyway after the interview i was in town buying wrapping paper and pottering around when i thought i would have a seat. so i slung my bag down and just as i took a seat my phone rang....as i answered it i realized the loud crack when i put my bag down had been the rum smashing in my bag. the $30, month long booze investment rum. my first bottle of rum in canada rum. so as she told me i had the job, im in the team, work mcworkson an all that jazz...all i could think was NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MY RUM !!!! i made arrangements to start work today at 11am and hung up. then i took the plastic bag full of rum out my bag, held it up over the bin and for a split second....no scrap that for about 5 minutes if not 10 i contemplated drinking it through the filter of the bag right there and then. but then rationality took over and i through it out.... bad times.

im not over it.

Ate some gingerbread cookies today which alice baked, delish.

im all tucked up in bed so i don't think im gonna manage and put any pictures with this post but they will come.

we are having a bit of a mulled wine event tomorrow....just us and our zero friends......................well....we shall see.

my plan is to get up at 8am tomorrow and head over to a place on main to buy a canvas which im then going to paint and enter to this gallery thing. basically you buy the canvas for $10 make it look good and then try and sell it for $100 and you get $50 and the rest goes to charity and everyone is happy :) i also signed up to volunteer at an art event in january. need some arty people around me, fun fun. so i suppose i better get some sleep for that plan to work out...

I just noticed it has been 6 whole days since my last blog, how rude of me. So my biggest news would be that it snowed on Saturday. wonderful beautiful white fluffy snow that landed and lasted for days. it was magnificent. I went outside (i was by myself cos alice and greg went out drinking but i stayed at home) and looked up into the sky and my face got covered in snow. it was so lovely.

I also went to a craft fair in a skate shop and bought some vintage scrap paper/ drawings to help decorate my room. which has begun to look very homely. i like it a lot. The skate shop was pretty cool too and had a ramp at the back, and a tonne of vintage boards. and an amazing watch that would work much better than my watch which has a back that keeps falling off and keeps freezing but alas i still don't have a job and thus continue with leaky trainers and a dud watch.

I applied for 8 jobs in total yesterday....including one in safeway....and no results. i am unemployable and off to join the circus.

Tried to organise getting our chimney swept so we could have a nice fire on christmas day but the guy is booked up until feb and it costs $135 so perhaps none of that for us :( disappointing. we could just send greg up...

oh and i have some bad news...i lost my hat :( my lovely lovely brown hat that i lived in for the last 5 years, its gone, somewhere between this house the pub (where i only had 2 drinks) and the bus home. gone gone gone for good :( bad bad times.

today i am going to pop to the thrift store and get some bored games for the house. i am also going to go to safeway and buy some food for tea. im going to do all of that without a hat :(

right now i am listening to rilo kiley, alice and i swapped a tun of music last night. its so good to be listening to something new. i am very much enjoying myself. although not having a job is actually making me pretty sad :( i might try and flog some drawings iv been doing on etsy. get all self employed.

tomorrow i plan to find a new hat. christmas is soon, gettin excited about that. Yesterday i was sitting reading the paper in the living room when i thought to myself, i think il make a cup of tea. so i walked through to the kitchen and there on the dinning room table was the mail....i had 2 cards ! i gasped because i was in by myself and had been for about an hour or so and had just presumed there was no mail. One card was from my aunti edith and the other was from my nana, i put them both on the mantle piece and now we have no more room for cards ! going to have to install a string !! excellent.

its bloomin freezin in here, just bumped my heater up so hopefully il warm up. it was -4 the other day, think thats the coldest its been here, which isnt that bad at all !! -3 today supposed to snow again tomorrow ! how wonderful :)
